With powerful SEL skills, your staff will be empowered and equipped to support their students with a team-oriented approach.
Watch it change their lives and yours.
Hi, I’m Miriam Campbell, MA SLP-CCC, MSW.
With each hat I wore, the same issue came up again and again.
The most essential skills – effective core skills to support the kids in real life – were falling through the cracks.
The kids were suffering.
Our kids need to be properly trained in Social Emotional Learning. They need these skills for their proper development as kids, and then as adults.
Therapists are trained in SEL delivery, but they don’t have enough time with each child to make a real difference.
Teachers have ample time to influence students, but most of them aren’t trained to deliver SEL. If they are, they rarely have TIME or energy to do so.
Wasn’t there a better way?
Honestly, there wasn’t.
Every lead led to a dead end.
I found SEL programs.
I found therapeutic techniques.
But no approach supported students from therapy sessions to classroom lessons to real life.
So I created that elusive better way.
I began to develop a curriculum that was easily integratable.
I distilled the work I was doing in my 1:1 sessions with kids into a structured method that both teachers and therapists could incorporate into their every interaction with the students. My goal was to create a consistent model that would prove efficient and effective in both therapy sessions and the classroom.
Skills for Connection is the culmination of those years of work.
I train therapists to do two things:
properly teach SEL during their sessions
train teachers to easily incorporate these constructs into what they’re already teaching.
By default, the teachers personally develop the SEL skills they’re teaching, enabling them to deal with challenging classroom behavior.
It’s a win-win-win.

Improve Parent-School Collaboration
We’re all on the same page when it comes to our kids’ benefit, right?
Unfortunately, not always.
We train therapists to give over the SEL RTI methodology to parents and teachers, resulting in a results-driven, cohesive team.
Plus, everyone involved gains from these skills. |

Integrate with Existing Classroom Curricula
Schools have so much on their academic agenda.
Which teacher has extra time or emotional energy to teach an additional curriculum, even one as integral to a child’s development as SEL? They’re already expressing burnout.
Our trainings bridge the gap between the two priorities, with SEL constructs that fit seamlessly into traditional classroom curricula at every grade level. |

It’s tried & true
“Even my lowest functioning student is able to grasp the concept.”
It’s a shame I didn’t see this a year ago. My students this past year faced numerous social-emotional challenges, and these tools would have helped them so much. Now that I have the skills, I can use them with my upcoming class. What I love most about the training is that even my lowest functioning student will be able to grasp the concepts!

“You don’t need a separate curriculum to teach these key skills.”
My job as a school therapist is to arm my students with communication skills, emotional awareness and regulation, and sensitivity training. When you try to teach these fundamentals as a separate curriculum, you’ve already lost – because who has time for “extracurricular activities”?
Miriam figured out what we’ve all been waiting for: how to seamlessly integrate these constructs into the existing classroom curriculum. With Skills for Connection, you don’t need a separate curriculum to teach these key skills to the kids. — Ahuva Maimon, LCSW, CASAC |
“The feedback from the teachers was amazing, they are all looking forward to implementing it.”
Hi! I was present at the training, it was really really great. The feedback from the teachers was amazing, they are all looking forward to implementing it. Thank you for the worksheets, I will email it to the teachers iyh. We had 13 staff at the training, not just the three faces you saw 🙂 lol! Thank you, Ruchee, Principal, Tiferes Mordechai, Brooklyn, NY
“This program opened proper lines of communication everywhere.”
Hi Mrs. Campbell, I wanted to thank you again for the workshop you gave to our staff. I think we took a lot from it, and we had a great full-staff discussion about “I see, I think, I feel, I choose” and the mindfulness exercise after your session. A lot of teachers had great ideas for how to implement the techniques in their classrooms. I wanted to check in with you to see if you received payment from the Greece central school district yet. Looking forward to hearing from you. Kol tuv. Dov Chastain, Assistant Principal, Derech HaTorah, Rochester NY |
“This program opened proper lines of communication everywhere.” My teachers feel more comfortable admitting when they need help because the culture that the program sets is one of growth across all roles. -D New, Preschool Director

Still wondering if this program is right for your school?
FAQs
- Is this financially efficient?
Extremely, if your school is on a tight budget, one Staff leader can be trained in the Therapist Training and support the entire school with training and materials for a one time fee. If they need further support, they can receive consultation.
- Can a school use other types of SEL effectively?
Other Social-Emotional programs may be helpful! There are many excellent books, blog posts, and trainings that are available.
We created this training, to provide what we were not seeing in other programs. We wanted to support natural skill integration and support teachers without adding to their workload.
Everything you need, all in one place.
- Are you CASEL certified?
No.
By choosing not to go the CASEL certification route, we ensure that all curricula and materials remain culturally sensitive for students in every school, regardless of social and political beliefs. Parents who are SEL-wary are comfortable with the Skills for Connection approach.
- Do you provide training for a Staff Leader to train the rest of the staff?
Yes! 6 Training Sessions plus Materials provide therapists/school leaders to train the rest of the staff members. He/She can also continue to receive consultations to address school-specific challenges and situations.
- Do you provide Parent Training for our school Parent Body?
Yes! Some schools sponsor Parent Training Events and other schools refer their Parents for the Parent Training: skillsforconnection.com/parents/
